New Performance Tesla Model Y spotted at the Nürburgring – Sporty version of the e-SUV is probably on the way
A new performance version of the freshly revised Tesla Model Y seems to be in the works. We caught the prototype at the Nürburgring.
The freshly revised Tesla Model Y is getting a new performance version. This is likely to be more powerful than the current top model with increased range and all-wheel drive. Similar to the Model 3 Performance, there should be a decent increase in performance and speed.
The facelift for the Model Y has been available for a few months and we have now discovered this new top model as a prototype on a test drive at the Nürburgring.
New Tesla Model Y Performance – What changes are coming?
Although the prototype is camouflaged, some features can already be identified, even if they can of course still change before the official presentation. However, most of the changes are similar to those of the Model 3 Performance compared to the "normal" Model 3.
The first thing you notice is the new tailgate, which is crowned by a new rear spoiler. This is reminiscent of the pre-facelift model and should provide more grip of the rear wheels at fast speeds.
There are no major changes to be seen at the front, but the Performance variant of the Model 3 had a completely new front with different bumpers and air intakes for improved aerodynamics. Changes from the prototype to the production model are therefore very likely here.
There is also an upgrade to the rims, which are reminiscent of the "Arachnid" rims of the Model S Plaid, the top model of the entire Tesla fleet. Behind the rims, large red brake calipers can also be discovered. Here, too, there are references to previous performance models, which are intended to underline the sporty character of the vehicles.
The sighted prototype also sits lower on the road compared to the "normal" Model Y. We expect that the Model Y Performance, like the Model 3 Performance, will come with adaptive shock absorbers and different driving modes. The chassis could also be sportier, but in terms of design, Tesla has never let its top models deviate too much from the others. However, there are probably other graphics for the infotainment.

In terms of performance, the Model Y Performance is likely to borrow from the Model 3 once again. Accordingly, this would be 460 hp and an acceleration of just under 3 seconds for 0 to 100 km/h. The Model Y is unlikely to reach the 2.9 seconds of the Model 3 Performance due to the SUV shape and the additional weight.
New Tesla Model Y Performance – Presentation and Price
The Tesla Model 3 Performance costs just under €10,000 more compared to the Model 3 with maximum range and all-wheel drive. A similar surcharge is likely to be due for the performance model of the Model Y. This would then be about 63,000 euros.

There is no official date for the presentation yet. However, we expect the announcement to be made in 2025. As soon as we know more, we will of course keep you posted.
