The "Affordable" Tesla Era Begins
Tesla is expanding its European offering with the new Model Y Standard – the vehicle that many refer to as the "People's Tesla". After the version debuted in North America on July 1, customers can now also order in Europe. The starting price is 39,990 euros – the cheapest Model Y that the manufacturer has ever offered on the continent. The version will be produced at the Gigafactory Grünheide in Germany.
With the launch of the new basic model, the Model Y RWD Long Range will disappear from the online configurator at the same time. The company is reorganizing its portfolio: fewer variants, a clearer price structure, more efficient production. The goal is clear – more reach for less money and a broader group of buyers.

Tesla's new pricing strategy
With the Model Y Standard, the electric car manufacturer is taking a step further in its missiontomake electric mobility suitable forthe masses. The omission of some comfort features such as a glass roof, matrix light or rear screens allows for an attractive entry-level price – without sacrificing Tesla's core technology, the FSD system or the famously outstanding software.
The new model is likely to attract a lot of interest, especially in markets such as Germany, FranceandScandinavia– regions where the Model Y is already the best-selling electric car.
